Nora and Ellis came to us fourteen months out with a venue they loved and a guest list neither family would agree on. We built the budget in one sitting, then spent a year quietly protecting the two things they actually cared about: the oaks, and dinner at real tables rather than rounds.

The day itself ran on a two-page sheet. Load-in at seven, doors at half past three, ceremony on the hour. The tent came down at one in the morning and the sprinklers, which nobody had thought to switch off, came on at four.
