Bell and Ivy asked for a party, not a gala, and then gave us a guest list with three hundred and twenty names on it. The two are hard to reconcile in a room that size.

We broke it into four bars, four food stations and no seating plan at all, put the speeches at forty minutes in rather than at the end, and kept the whole thing to three hours. Nobody sat down and nobody left early.
